Roy Wilkinson - ISSA VP Candidate    [Bio]

______________________________________________________

Hello ISSA Members!

I am Roy Wilkinson, currently serving as your Vice President, and  I'm asking for your vote and support  to return to this role and continue fighting for you, the Members, and for the Chapters.

"Chapters are the Heart & Soul of ISSA"

I've said this phrase so often when championing the Chapters that people have begun to borrow it. :) As you know, your Chapter is where you experience ISSA the most - attending meetings & events, networking, training courses, volunteering, stepping up for leadership roles, etc. An important part of the VP's role is to be the liaison with the Chapters. That includes:

• Sharing information - in both directions - from ISSA International to the Chapter Leaders, and vice-versa - and raising up issues & questions from the Chapters
• Conducting the Chapter Leaders Meetings & Annual Summit meetings, and
• Being that strong advocate and voice for the Chapters!

With your help - and your vote - I’ll continue to do my best in this capacity!

Delivering on Promises

I have been honored to serve ISSA in a variety of roles, and I am seeking your support in returning to serve as your Vice President. I ran for this office in 2017 with 2 main goals:

• Improve the focus on Chapters & boost the relationship between the Chapters & ISSA International, and
• Increase communications and transparency at the International level

In 2018, I was able to make great strides in both of these areas with the organizational support the Chapters and I had - and through the Chapter Committee. (Let me take the chance to acknowledge and thank the committee members for all their work! I appreciate it folks! We couldn't have accomplished nearly as much without you! :) )

Last year, ISSA saw several changes & accomplishments toward these goals:
• An updated & revised Chapter Manual - This was a huge project and is now a great resource for Chapter Leaders!
• I ramped up the number of Chapter Leaders meetings - moving from quarterly to monthly - to provide more engagement with Chapters, sharing more info, and more timely info, to help keep members and chapters informed. This was especially important with the separation from our management company & the repercussions from that.
• I also increased the emails going to Chapter Leaders - again to provide more transparency and info on a timely basis - and opened my door for direct input & discussion with Chapter Leaders.
• We conducted a Survey of Chapters. The feedback from the survey led to pairing up participating chapters for Mentoring & Collaboration - and led to timely & topical presentations & working groups at the Chapter Leaders Summit. It also led to:
o Creation of a Chapter Leaders online discussion group
o Introduction of the ISSA Speakers Bureau
• We held a special 'International' Chapter Leaders meeting in Europe - the first of those in a few years. (Thanks ISSA Germany for hosting!) This was part of a larger outreach to chapters located around the world, including special international 'town hall' meetings and conducting several of the Chapter Leaders meetings at times that are more suited for non-US time zones. :)
• I also established a regular weekly schedule to meet with the Chapter Support team, review open cases, make sure chapter issues don't fall through the cracks, and help resolve problems & escalate when necessary.
o This effort led to us hiring an outside expert firm to assist with tax issues that multiple chapters were having, and to create a 'tax guidance' document that's now available for use by all chapters!
• And as a direct response to discussion with Chapter Leaders at last year's Chapter Leaders Summit & as a result of info learned during the Chapter Manual Review Project - We also now have a discounted option available for Chapters to get Directors & Officers Insurance! (Thanks everyone for your input & feeedback on the D&O Insurance Project!)

Leadership is about Service

I have a strong background in leadership - professionally, up to & including the CISO level - and as a volunteer association leader & board member of international, national and regional associations over the past 30+ years, including ~17 years with ISSA, where I've been able to make lots of contributions at the chapter level - as Chapter President & on the board - and at the international level working on several committees and now, serving as your Vice President.

Those who know me, you know my passion for our profession and for ISSA. If you don't know me yet, or know me as well, I hope this message will give you some idea. If you have questions, just reach out & ping me. As the Chapter Leaders know, my door is open. :)

I’m asking for your vote - to allow me to continue representing you as your VP, and continue as a strong crusader for the Chapters and Members of ISSA.

Thank You! :)
